Possible Trump Indictment Expected Next Week, Trump Calls For Protests

Former President Donald Trump has predicted his arrest in connection with an investigation conducted by the Manhattan District Attorney's office and called on his supporters to protests ahead of possible indictment. Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social Saturday morning that he expects to be arrested Tuesday. At the end of an all-caps post criticizing the DA and proclaiming his innocence, he wrote: “THE FAR & AWAY LEADING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE & FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, WILL BE ARRESTED ON TUESDAY OF NEXT WEEK. PROTEST, TAKE OUR NATION BACK!”[0]

The legal troubles of Trump are not only confined to the investigation in Manhattan.[1] In Fulton County, Ga., he is expected to be indicted due to a district attorney's investigation into his attempt to undermine the 2020 election.[1] The special counsel probe into his attempt to undermine the election and his attempts to stop the government from retrieving multiple sensitive national security documents kept at his Mar-a-Lago estate are causing him to face more pressing legal issues.[1]

It is rumored that law enforcement at the local, state, and federal levels are getting ready for the potential that a legal action may be taken against former president Donald Trump as soon as next week concerning the hush money payment made to Stormy Daniels. A spokesperson for Donald Trump stated to USA TODAY, anonymously, that there has been no official notification of a potential indictment of Trump apart from media reports and “leaks from the Justice Department and the District Attorney's office.”[2]

John Miller of CNN reported that meetings have occurred all week between New York City's city, state, and federal law enforcement authorities, regarding how to prepare in case of an indictment of Trump over an investigation into a hush money plot linked to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

A source familiar with Trump's comments has reported that the former president has privately expressed his belief that he will only be indicted by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg because of his hatred for him.[3]

Trump's advisors had urged him in private to not call for protests, as they were worried that a large demonstration in Manhattan could get out of hand or be reminiscent of the 2021 insurrection.[3]
